Acer Tablet Pc Travelmate C300
Windows Power Management on a laptop?
I have an Acer TabletPC (TravelMate C300). It has Windows XP Tablet PC Edition 2005 on it (SP2). Windows constantly changes the speed of my processor. It is a Pentium M 1.7GHz, but Windows runs it on 220Mhz most of the time!!!! Imagine working in WinXP on a 220MHz processor!! There is no option in BIOS to disable it. I tried setting different options in Power Management in Control Panel (like Always On, Minimal Power Management, etc) but NOTHING works. Does anyone have any clues as to what should I do (other than buy a new one, or throwing this one out the window)
Well, here’s the thing, I only have Power Options in Control Panel, and no additional applets for power control. And my settings are ‘Always On’, and it doesn’t help. This power control is built into Windows, so there is not way to turn it off, right? I think I could turn off SpeedStep somehow on the chipset, but there is no such option in the BIOS! Heh…. Some laptops have their own Power Management system in the Control Panel. So the Power Management button that you see in the Desktop “screensaver” section does nothing. In the case of Toshiba, it says “Toshiba Power”.
You should see Dual Controls. One for Battery power, the other for AC power. Yes, set the AC power to ALWAYS ON.
