Pc Tablet Peripheral
What’s the best device available to handwrite or draw and save writings as Word docs?
An iPad or tablet PC, or rather a graphics tablet like Hanvon’s or Waco’s? Which one would you recommend? I am looking for a best possible compromise between ample screen area and compactness, user friendliness, power autonomy and self-containedness (the less cables needed the better: either an autonomous peripheral or a self-contained device)…
Check out the HP tm2t or the HP Slate 500. The tm2t is a convertible tablet pc. It can be used in standard laptop format or converted into slate mode by rotating the screen. The Slate 500 is a slate tablet pc. It’s not quite as powerful as the tm2t and more like a premium netbook as far as performance goes but it is compact and portable.
I use the HP tx2z which is the predecessor to the tm2t and I run MS Office 2010 on it. No problems whatsoever. When I’m using Word. I can input using the keyboard, stylus, touchscreen, touchpad or mouse. Windows 7 even comes with free speech recognition software that is comparable to Dragon Naturally Speaking. With practice, you can input text and control the software and computer all with the multitouch screen and voice and never touch the keyboard or pad. Also, you will love using Microsoft OneNote on a tablet PC.
I also use a Wacom Intuos4 on my desktop MacPro and a Wacom Bamboo Fun on my desktop PC. I like using the graphic tablets as regular input interfaces. On the Intuos4 I have the mouse accessory in addition to the the pen. On the Bamboo, the multitouch interface in combination with the pen is great. I personally don’t like carrying the extra accessories but, if you have a regular laptop PC/Mac, there is no reason why either one of these graphic tablets will not work with it and it is a viable alternative to a tablet pc.
