Best Tablet PC for a student to take notes on?

I want to get a tablet pc (or one of those convertable notebooks) to take to class with me to take my notes on. What I want to know is, is there one or a program I can get with one that will allow me to write on the pc just like it is a notepad? Like, outlines my notes and everything just like its on a piece of paper but save it to the computer? I just want to save money on buying notebooks and also have a way to keep my notes organized.
