Tablet Pc Airplane

wacom pc tablet on carry on luggage? computer parts?

hello guys!

im currently moving into the USA, i would like to bring my wacom tablet with me, it is over 4 years old and shows signs of use, it doesnt need batteries and it is not like i can use it onboard.

But i dont know if i can carry on with me on board

should it go into my carry on luggage? or into my checked luggage? whats the best for having less problem in customs and security check?

I would say carry on luggage and i mention it to security officer, but i dont know.

Whats the deal with computer parts in airplanes?

any info is welcome, thanks!
uh, this item has the USB cable attached to it, i cant remove it.

I would put it into your carry on bag; less chance of damage and less chance of it being stolen or lost.

The only things that I know for sure that the security people (in the U.S. anyway) want to have you remove and put in separate bins at the security checkpoint are laptops themselves and CPAP machines (for sleep apnea).

They don’t seem to be too concerned about parts – at least not chargers and miscellaneous bits and pieces. However – put any tools (pliers, screwdrivers, utility knives or anything else that is pointy) into your checked luggage. I would also put any lengths of cable, extension cords, or wire of any sort into your checked bag as well – could be used as a garrote.

I have never carried bare or portable drives with me, so I can’t comment on that. Don’t see that it would be a problem in a carry-on, and you would not want them lost or stolen from checked luggage.

Personally, I would take the tablet out of its case or your carry-on and put it separately into a bin to go through the x-ray machine. I would leave other equipment in your bag as it goes through the x-ray machine. They may decide to look at it further if you have a lot of equipment, and the x-ray image is not clear as to what it is.

Good luck.
