Gateway m285-e tablet pc video driver problem! ?

my Gateway m285-e tablet pc laptop has a problem with ati mobility radeon x1400, every time I start my laptop the monitor stays black you can see it’s on It just doesn’t show any images…the only way I can see whats going on is if I connect my laptop to a monitor with a vga cable and this is only in safe mode and if I disable the driver I see everything in 4 bits not in 64 and this is only on the external monitor, the laptop monitors stays black. I’ve unistalled the driver and reinstalled it I even updated the driver to the latest version but nothing…Please help me…. someone!

Perhaps it’s not a driver issue at all.

It may be the screen itself has gone dead, or the backlight has died.

Is there an image on the screen but you can barely see it?…then it’s the backlight. If there’s no image at all it could be the screen.

If the unit is out of warranty you may want to open it up and see if the screen connector might be the problem. Perhaps re-seating the connector will give you your screen image back.
