How do I make music play in Visual Basic 2008?

I’ve downloaded Visual Basic 2008 express from Microsoft (i’ve used it before but not for this purpose). I want to make a virtual pad sythesiser so that when I press a button on the application, a short sound will play (0.5 – 1 second long) but i also need it to respond almost instantly (On a descent pc with a dual core processor and 3GB of memory). I don’t need it to be able to stop obviously because they are very short. All I want to be able to do is to tap different buttons with my pen on my graphics tablet to play the different sounds assigned to each button. To get what I mean listen to the first part of “numb” by linkin park.

Link the function PlaySound to your project and use it in the On_Click events. It’s a pretty simple function. It just takes a filename and some standard arguments.
