Wacom Intuos2 won’t work with my laptop?

I have a Wacom Intuos2 that I know works. It runs on my family computer, but it won’t run on my tabletPC.
Firstly, it’s not directly attached to the computer. It’s running through a USB-to-Serial adapter.
I’ve installed the driver multiple times. Each time it says it’s running and working; and even though the tablet picks up the pen (the light turns green when I put the pen to the tablet), the computer isn’t picking up the thing at all: the cursor won’t move.
I’m starting to think that it might be because my laptop is a tablet PC; namely a Gateway CX2620. Any ideas?
The tablet can’t directly connect to the USB drive.

“It’s running through a USB-to-Serial adapter. ” You shouldn’t need this.

Connect the Intuos directly into any USB port.

Still stuck? Call Wacom.
